A very strong and deep earthquake measuring M6.9 on the Richter scale (USGS) struck off the coast of Fiji on July 21, 2014, at 14:54 UTC. USGS is reporting depth of 616.1 km (382.8 miles). EMSC is reporting M6.8 earthquake at depth of 610 km.Epicenter was located 100 km (62 miles) NNE of Ndoi Island, Fiji, and 369 km (229 miles) WNW of Nuku`alofa, Tonga.There are about 2 540 people living within 100 km radius.USGS issued green alert for shaking-related fatalities and economic losses.
