Satellite animation of storms that flooded the Midwestern U.S.

From June 16 through June 23 a series of thunderstorms dropped large amounts of rainfall on the Upper Midwest that caused flooding and spawned tornadoes. Meteo-tsunami hits several cites along Adriatic coast, Croatia

A meteorological tsunami or meteo-tsunami event was observed today in several Croatian cities along the Adriatic coast. In some places sea levels rose up to 2 meters.According to Darko Dragojević, a member of independent Croatian meteorological organization Crometeo, who observed and reported the event in Vela Luka (Korčula), sea levels sharply rose for about 1.5 meters around 08:30 local time/CET (06:30 UTC). Fukushima Unit 4; 1122 Spent Fuel Assemblies Removed

There are 411 spent fuel assemblies left to remove from unit 4 at Fukushima Daiichi. 1122 have been removed as of Monday of this week.
While this is significant progress, the remaining assemblies include some of the heavily damaged ones that will require careful handling, special equipment and come with huge risks. TEPCO has not specifically outlined the equipment or procedures that will be used to remove the more damaged assemblies in the pool.
